How To Spice Up Your Old Workout Routine
Everyone gets to the point where the old workout routine is getting reallllly old. We get up and lift for 35 minutes, hit the treadmill for 20 and we cross off our workout from our to-do list.
It’s why pre-workouts were invented…because its easy to get bored with the same routine.
So, if you PRE isn’t cutting it, and your brain is trying to get you to skip, you definitely need to spice up your old workout routine.
How To Spice Up Your Old Workout Routine: BUY A DVD
You may not see yourself as a person who pops in a DVD and hashtags #beachbody after sweating in your living room. But maybe you should be. Even if you do this for a month instead of hitting the same gym, you might find yourself motivated to work out, changing things up with your results AND, ready to rekindle your gym-ship after a month or two.
How To Spice Up Your Old Workout Routine: Do Cardio First
Not a fan of home workouts or DVDs? Try changing up the order of how you workout at the gym. If you start with cardio, go with weights and vice versa. Also, even if you’re not a morning person, or hate to workout after work—try it anyway. These changes can not only keep your workout routine interesting, it can help you break through a plateau.
How To Spice Up Your Old Workout Routine: Group Training
If you’re a solo gym goer, consider joining a class. Even if you’re not that social, remember results happen outside your comfort zone. Try spinning, or kickboxing or Zumba and see what happens. Even if you end up hating it, you’ll spark some interest in going back to your old routine.
How To Spice Up Your Old Workout Routine: Get Earbuds
Whether you have a playlist now, or don’t listen to music yet—change it up. Pick new music or starting listening to music. Music has a way of making our brain focus on goals…but make sure it’s the right music. “All by myself” isn’t going to get your bench up to 400 lbs…or will it?
Try every one of these things and see what happens. The worst thing that will happen is they don’t help, and you take off from training for a couple weeks. THAT’S OK TOO! Sometimes our bodies just need a break. Reset your body and you might even find that you get better results after a short break.
Need more motivation? Try our PRE to get motivated or INTRA to go longer.
